New Years’ Resolution Countdown: 2

Well, it’s almost here. Almost 2014.

So, what are my words of wisdom for today?

How about this – each day, every day, move. Just move.

Find the something that gets you moving. Put music on and dance to it. Get a dog and take it for walks. Go buy a bicycle and ride around your town or neighborhood. Make a pact with your spouse or your kid to go on one walk a day.

Buy a pedometer (I have a Fitbit Flex, myself), to keep track of your activity automatically. You’ll find that these devices come with a manual that suggests you set a goal of 10,000 steps a day, and that might seem like a lot, but it really isn’t.

Yesterday I got to my goal basically by just taking the dog for a 30 minute walk. Today, I got 90% there by doing housework. A little more movement than you get now will make a world of difference, especially if you make some kind of commitment to do some every day. If you add a workout program to that, work on improving your nutrition and get a good solid night’s sleep every night you will be absolutely stunned by the results you achieve.
