Today’s workout…

Finally got back on the horse today after being unable to exercise due to a virus I picked up from the kiddies. It can be so frustrating to progress through a program and have to pull up lame for a week or two because of a cold bug. I started P90X2 in mid-October and should be halfway through the final phase of the program by now, but a nasty case of food poisoning I picked up in November cost me a week and this cold cost me a week and a half.

So, what do you do when this sort of thing happens? What I do is take a step back and redo the last week you completed of the program. For me, that was the final week of the second phase of X2.

Here’s what I did today:

P90X2 – Chest +Back+Balance and Ab Ripper

Chest + Back + Balance is a great workout. One of my favorites. It’s basically a mixture of push-ups and pull-ups, with a twist. The push-ups are done balancing on medicine balls, or a stability ball, or a chair and a stability ball or, as is the case of the move called the Impossible/Possible, on both a stability ball and medicine ball.

The pull-ups are a mixture of various different types of pull-ups with no kipping allowed.

Needless to say, the balance aspect dials up the difficulty in a big way.

X2 Ab Ripper is a 15 minute add-on done after the main workout that focuses on core exercises. Contrary to the name, it’s not a bunch of crunches. These are functional moves that work your entire core from your kneecaps to your chest.

It’s good to be back in the game. Keep pushing play everyone.
