According to this academic study, people who exercise regularly are better at creative thinking.

I know I certainly am able to keep myself on track and get things done better when I’m regularly physically active. When I was doing distance cycling I found that while I was on the bike riding 30, 40, or 50 miles things I’d been wondering about or puzzling over that week would all start to just slot into place.

These days if I join a pick-up soccer game and play all out for a couple of hours I’m more focused and mentally relaxed for a couple of days afterward.
